If you want to know more about the species that are part of our world, please check the Species section in our Encylopedia! (Top bar/Hamburger menu: World > Encylopedia)

Mantlas can be humanoid, anthro/furry, feral, or bean (which is between furry and feral.) Species references are generally for furry or bean type mantlas. You can freely switch a mantla design between the different body types.

Each mantla needs the following traits:

  • Ears
  • Mask
  • Fin
  • Tail
  • Size
  • Fin Size

They also all need fake eyes and armfins, unless they have the traits [M] No Fake Eyes or [I] No Armfins (Wolf Paw). Armfins are optional for humanoid mantlas. There are also Legendary traits for No Ears and No Tail. The mask must visibly connect and lead into the fin from the front, and the tail must be attached to the fin and not the body. You can use two of each trait (ears/mask/fin/tail) and combine them or have two; for example you could have two pairs of ears or you can have a pair of ears that's a mix between two different ear traits.

Size can generally be set to Standard Size / Standard Fin Size if you don't have a strong opinion on your character's size.
In the past, fin size traits used to be Big/Standard/Small, but are now Oversized/Standard/Undersized and are based on how big the fin is compared to the body. Generally, you should use Standard Fin Size unless otherwise directed by a staff member. Oversized Fin Size is generally required when the fin is longer than the legs. An image guide for fin size across the various mantla body types will be added sometime in the future.

Redesign guidelines can be found below the MYO submission guide.

MYO Submission Guide

An MYO is a "Make Your Own" ticket to be able to make your own character in a closed species.

How to get an MYO

There are several ways you can get an MYO. All users are able to claim a free Common MYO once from the First Time Bonus week-long daily.

  • Purchasing an MYO with ocean coins, our species currency, from the MYO shop
  • Purchasing an MYO with real money during MYO sales which happen every so often
  • Participating in events that have MYOs as rewards
  • Winning a raffle (for example, the monthly prompt raffle always includes one Legendary MYO winner)
  • Trading with other users for MYOs

What kinds of MYOs are there?

We have several different kinds of rarities and species. A Mantla MYO with a rarity is called a Standard or Rarity Mantla MYO and a Mantla MYO with a regional tag is called a Regional Mantla MYO. All other types of MYO do not have rarities or trait differences.
Standard Mantla MYOs come in the following rarities:

  • [C] Common
  • [U] Uncommon
  • [R] Rare
  • [E] Epic
  • [L] Legendary
  • [M] Mutation

Each standard MYO lets you use rarity traits up to and including their rarity. For example, an Epic Mantla MYO lets you use Common, Uncommon, Rare, and Epic traits. Regional Mantla MYOs only let you use their traits and the standard traits (Standard Ears, Standard Mask, Standard Fin, Standard Tail, Standard Size, and Standard Fin Size.) Regional MYOs have their traits listed on the item description of the MYO for ease of reference.

The following rarities are only for traits and aren't used for MYOs:

  • [I] Item
  • [H] Halloween
  • [CB] Crossbreed

Regional rarity traits are only from regional MYOs, and Basic rarity is for open-traited species such as pets, Serafins, and Poncharos.

Pet and Subspecies

Other species MYOs do not have rarities and are generally open-traited. For really dramatic departures from the species look, it is required to use an item with a miscellaneous trait to achieve the effect. For example, to make a robot Serafin or Poncharo, you have to use the Robot Body trait from Shell Chip. Items are otherwise not required for non-Mantlas.

Some of the pet species are open species and are free to make. However, due to technical limitations, you will need to use an MYO so they can be submitted to the masterlist. We have these MYOs capped at 10 per person to prevent spam and people gathering hundreds for no reason; however, you are allowed to make more than 10. Just contact a staff member to grant you some more MYOs.

How to submit an MYO design

Once you have an MYO item you need to turn it into an MYO slot to submit it to the masterlist.
Step-by-step instructions:

  1. Head to your inventory. You can find it by going to the top bar (3 line “hamburger” button menu on mobile, top right) and going to Home > Inventory.
    • You can also find it at “My Inventory” under Inventory on the home page.
    • This link is not a public link you can show to others. To show your inventory to others via link, navigate to your profile (Hamburger Menu / Top Bar: [Your Username] > Profile or “Profile” under Account on the home page.) Once on your profile, select “View all…” under Inventory.
  2. Select your MYO by clicking or tapping on it. This will pop up a menu where you can use or transfer the MYO item.
  3. Tap the square next to the one on the table you want to use.
    • Note that if you have multiple of the same MYO from multiple sources, tapping the box next to “source” will highlight all of them, which you may not want to do. However, if you want to use multiple MYOs at once, from the same source, you can also adjust the quantity of MYOs you are using. They default to 1 at a time.
  4. Once you have selected your desired MYO, open the Use Slot submenu and select “Open.”
Can’t find your MYO? You may have already turned it from an item into a slot! Head over to the next step.
  5. Head to your MYO slots. You can find it by going to the top bar/hamburger menu and going to Home > My MYO Slots.
    • You can also find it at "My MYO Slots" under Characters on the Home page.
    • Like the inventory link, this is not a public link you can show others. To show your MYO slots to others via link, navigate to your profile (Hamburger Menu / Top Bar: [Your Username] > Profile or “Profile” under Account on the home page.) Once on your profile, look over to the sidebar ("Menu>" button in the top left on mobile) and go to "MYO Slots" under User.
  6. Click or tap on the MYO slot you want to use for your design.
  7. Once on the MYO page, go to the sidebar ("Menu>" button in the top left on mobile) and select "Submit MYO Design" under Settings.
  8. Once on this page, select "Submit Request." This will open a design submission request. If you accidentally close the design submission page, don't worry, just go back to this page. There will be an link to re-open the submission page.
  9. The design submission page has a form with 5 sections. One being "status" (you can ignore this section) and four sections to fill out. The form does not save as you go; as you fill out sections, you must click the save button at the bottom of each page to save your progress.
    1. Comments: Optional; if you don't have anything to say, simply scroll to the bottom and select Save
    2. Masterlist Image: You upload your reference and credit the artist and designers here! Images should be smaller than 3000x3000px; it will allow you to attach a larger image but it will break your submission and prevent it from being accepted so make sure your image is the right size. Please also make sure your reference has a transparent background. For credit, it's not required to fill out the username AND URL portion, only one is necessary. You can put in both but it prioritizes the selected onsite username. If you are using a base, please credit them as a second artist using the + button next to the artist boxes.
    3. Add-Ons: Here is where you add any items you may be using. The process is very similar to using an MYO item, except you click "Save" at the bottom instead of use. It will not display the items as being used on your side, just that the box is checked.
    4. Traits: Unless you are creating a crossbreed mantla or submitting a redesign, you will not need to select a subtype or transformation. Rarity should be set to the same as the MYO's rarity, and should never be Item, Halloween, or Crossbreed. Basic rarity is ONLY for subspecies and pet species, not mantlas. Please add all traits you are using, and add which item they come from (if applicable) in the extra info section. For example, if you're using Shell Chip to add Robot Body, you will write "Shell Chip" in the Extra Info next to Robot Body.  Remember that all mantla designs need an ear, mask, fin, tail, size, and fin size trait.
  10. Once you are done, press "Submit Request" at the bottom of the page! This will submit the request to be approved. Now all you need to do is wait until your submission is approved, or canceled. A canceled submission will come with a staff comment telling you what needs to be adjusted for it to be accepted, such as adding traits, editing the image, etc.

Redesigning A Mantlas World Character

  • Adding a new color takes 1 super gel
  • The redesign should still resemble the original
  • You can exchange traits for the same rarity and type of trait without using an item. For example, you can change [E] Moth Ears to [E] Sea Bunny Ears without using an item. You can also downgrade a trait without using an item. For example, you can change [E] Moth Ears to [U] Bunny Ears. You may also remove traits as long as you still have one of each basic trait. Note that traits cannot be redistributed to another design or refunded.

How to submit a Redesign or Alternate Form

  1. Head to the masterlist profile of the character you want to redesign.
  2. Go to the sidebar (Menu> in the top left on mobile) and select "Update Design" under Settings.
  3. Select "Create Request"
  4. The process is very similar to submitting an MYO, except there will already be traits listed.
  5. If you want this design to be an alternate form and not a redesign, select "Alt Form 1" (If you have already used 1, select 2, if you have used 2, select 3.) If you are using one of the orb items to add a transformation, use the appropriate Orb transformation option.)
  6. Please write in the comments that it's an alt form or transformation so the staff looking over your submission know!
